Checking the fresh water reading for (High PPM)

This guide will allow the user to check the reading obtained by the Smart Bilge measuring cell whilst clean water is inside

If you are experiencing high PPM readings, this could be caused by either a dirty measuring cell, failed measuring cell, incorrect sample.

One way to rule out sample conditions is to check the PPM reading whilst clean  bottled drinking water is trapped inside the measuring cell

If the PPM reading remain high whilst following this procedure, the cell will need cleaning or replacing

Procedure:

  1. After isolating all supplies, drain the cell, remove the Autoclean/manual clean from the top,

2.    Plug the inlet and outlet using the provided rubber bung or plastic blanking plugs.

3.  The measuring cell can now be filled with clean, bottled drinking water. The measuring cell cover should never be opened to prevent irreparable damage and void of warranty.

Once the cell is filled with clean bottled drinking water, reattach the Autoclean/manual clean and check the PPM reading. If it remains high, proceed with further troubleshooting.

Clean the measuring cell  Smart Bilge measuring cell cleaning

Reconnect the inlet and outlet piping, flush with clean water, and check that the clean water PPM reading is < 2ppm. If it remains high,

Inspect the Solenoid valve

  • Double-check the solenoid valve inlet (Clean water IN) to see if there is any debris blocking the hole. If there is a blockage or debris, please clean it.
  • Check that the water flow rate through the measuring cell is >0.5 l/min.

** Please take note that the solenoid valve cannot be adjusted, and doing so will void the warranty. ; you can only inspect it and clean it if possible. If not, then the solenoid valve needs to be replaced**

Flush with fresh water for 30 minutes to clear the measuring cell and the fresh water supply line of any corrosion or debris. After flushing, verify that the PPM level has decreased to 0 ppm.

If the PPM reading remains high, replace the measuring cell.  Smart bilge Measuring cell removal and replacement
