Low Flow trim kit installation

How to install your low flow trim kit to you SmartBilge flow switch.

Why you may need it

As standard, the flow switch is designed to generate an alarm at your smart bilge if the sample flow from your oily water separator falls below 0.8 Litres per minute. When the flow drops below 0.8 Litres per minute for over 10 seconds, the alarm is triggered and the SmartBilge will behave in the same manner as a high PPM alarm. Both alarm relays will activate after their pre-set delay times, preventing a discharge.

The low flow trim kit is designed to lower the trigger point for your "Flow too low" alarm from 0.8 litres per minute to 0.25 Litres per minute. 

If you have a poor sample flow from your oily water separator to your SmartBilge monitor,  a low flow trim kit will improve reliability. 

What's in the kit

The kit consists of three parts that are to be installed in your existing Flow switch. The parts are:

  • Reducing orifice
  • Poppet
  • Cap
