Upgrading from MEPC.60(33) to MEPC.107(49)
MEPC.60(33)
The above regulation was adopted on 30 October 1992 and is applicable for our OCD CM. This regulation has now been superseded by MEPC.107(49) in 2005.
The Rivertrace OCM for the MEPC.60(33) was our old OCD CM. Rivertrace ceased production of the OCD CM in 2011, and now only offer calibrated spare cells to service our existing monitors still in operation.
MEPC.107(49)
The updated regulation for Pollution Prevention Equipment for Machinery Space Bilges of Ships MEPC.107(49) was adopted in July 2003 and applicable to ships built after 2005. The latter was amended by MEPC.285(70) adopted in October 2016 but most of its text remains valid.
For this we have our SMART BILGE 15ppm OCM.
MEPC.60(33) vs MEPC.107(49)
While there are key differences in the separation process itself, the primary difference is the Monitor itself is to do with the response time, storage of the data and the ability to tamper with the sensor itself. Please refer to the table below for a comparison.

Upgrading from an MEPC.60(33) to a MEPC.107(49) Monitor
While the simplest way to upgrade to the new regulation is to change your separator and OCM we understand that not all companies which to invest in this but given the differences between the regulation a class and flag state approval is needed to ensure that the upgraded OCM is still in compliance and will operationally work for your ship and ensure no detentions by PSC.
Rivertrace cannot offer a direct replacement monitor to upgrade from MEPC.60(33) to MEPC.107(49) but we can offer a fully approved MEPC.107(49) that will work provided the correct modifications are made to the OWS.
