Smart ODME computer PCB replacement

The following is to be used to replace the computer PCB

Tools required

Pozidrive Screwdriver PZ1

Slotted Screwdriver Small blade

Slotted Screwdriver large

Anti-static wristband

Antistatic precautions should always be taken when working on electronics or electrical components.

Procedure:

1. Remove the computer module from its mounted position by unscrewing the 4 x M5 slotted screws from front of computer. Be careful that sliding the computer out from the mounting position does not dislodge or unplug the cables from the rear of the computer.

Once the computer is removed from the mounting position, carefully log where each cable is connected at the rear of the computer and then unplug.

2. Remove the 10 x M3 pozidrive screws from the top cover.

3. Remove the 5 x M3x6LG pozidrive screws from the bottom front of the computer module.

4. Remove the two  M3x6LG screws from each side of the computer module.

5. Remove the ribbon cable that connects the front D-Type connector to the I/O PCB.

6. Remove the 5 wires that connect the USB connector to the I/O PCB.

Note the wire colors and their corresponding sockets.

7. Remove the 16-way ribbon cable from socket J5 on the microprocessor card.

Note the orientation of the ribbon cable notch.

8. Remove the 40-way ribbon cable from the microprocessor card.

9. Remove the 8 x M3x6LG slotted screws securing the PCB, noting each screw has a crinkle washer on the top and a red fiber washer with a white plastic retaining washer on the underside.

All washers must be reused otherwise the up/down/enter buttons will not work correctly.

10. Remove the SD card and insert it into the new PCB card holder until it clicks into place.

Secure it with a small amount of silicone sealant to prevent vibration.

The SD card contains the IMO stored data for the vessel.
