Ensure that the sample probe valve is manually closed locally and the overboard valve is manually closed.

Flush the measuring cell with clean water for 5 minutes by opening the clean water valve from the computer.

Service Mode --> System Test --> Check Relays --> Cleanwater --> ON.

Scroll back up the check relays menu to “wiper” and turn on and off several times while the cell is flushing with clean water. Ensure this is left in the OFF status.

Return to the “cleanwater” relay and turn off.

Select oil type 9 to run Calibration Check Fluid.

*Note: Refer to section 5.2.2 Ballast selection menu and 5.2.3 Oil Discharge Setup Menu in the SMART ODME Manual for instruction on how to select oil type.

Scroll to the end and select BACK to return to the “system test" menu.

Scroll up to “Check PPM” and press ENTER.

Record (photograph) the PPM value displayed here.

Record PPM value from display screen

Press ENTER to return to the “system test” menu.

At the VPC panel remove the air supply to the autoclean wiper and remove the wiper from the measuring cell.

Remove the stainless steel pipe from the discharge side of the pump and the inlet to the measuring cell and drain the contents of the cell and the sample outlet pipework into a bucket. Replace the pipe orientated vertically as seen in figure below, this will allow you to contain the 500ppm solution in the cell using as little of it as possible.

Take the bottle of 500ppm Calibration Check Solution, shake for one minute to obtain uniformity then leave it to stand for a further 5 minutes to release any entrained bubbles.

Pour in a quantity of the 500ppm Calibration Check Solution through the autoclean block. Drain using the syringe and dispose of. Pour in a further quantity of the 500ppm solution to the top of the autoclean block and cover with the opaque disc.

Return to the ODME computer and select “Check PPM”.

Again, record (photograph) the value displayed in the area highlighted in figure 1.

Use the syringe to remove as much of the 500ppm Calibration Check Solution as possible from the cell and dispose of. Replace the stainless-steel piping to its original position, replace the autoclean wiper assembly and reconnect the air line.

Ensure all valves are returned to their original positions.
