SMART ODME Simulation mode procedure

A guide to ODME simulation test procedure

Simulation Mode
The Smart ODME has a simulation mode where the user can carry out a simulated discharge without the need to run the slop tank pump. The ship speed and Flowmeter inputs will have to be changed from Auto to Manual mode for the duration of the test. Access to each sub menu can be found in the General Settings Menu: Use the up/down/enter keys to access the menu.

It is assumed that the method of actuating the overboard discharge valve is available before starting the Simulation test (air, hydraulic or electric).

1) Select Manual

2) Select Manual

3) Change the ships speed to 15 kn

4) Use the down key to Save and Exit

5) Use the up/down/enter buttons to access the service Menu then enter Simulation Mode:

6) Enter Simulation Mode observe the display, the flow and speed will show the values you have entered in the previous menus.

7) Press the Up key and the ppm value will rise by 20 ppm. (the figure will increment by 20 ppm. Observe that the overboard discharge valve opens and the valve status LEDs colour on the front of the Computer module change colour from Red to Green.

8)  When the litres per mile figure exceeds 30 L/nm the overboard discharge valve will close and the valve status LEDs colour will change back to Red.

9)  Pressing the Down key will cause the litres per nautical mile figure to decrease, the overboard
discharge valve will again open when it falls below 30 L/nm

Pressing the Enter key will stop the simulation test.
At the end of the test return the Flowmeter and ship’s speed settings to Auto mode.
