SMART PFM - Calibration Check / Verification Procedure

CUSTOMER PROCEDURE FOR CARRYING OUT A VERIFICATION ON THE SMART PFM.

Introduction

What you will need:

  • 250mL Bottle of Smart PFM107 10ppm Verification fluid.
  • 250mL Bottle of Smart PFM107 20ppm Verification fluid.
  • Clean Stainless-steel verification pipe.
  • Bottle brush
  • Paper towel or clean rags to clean any spillages.
  • Adjustable Spanner to remove the sample inlet pipe.
  • Jug or bucket to dispose of waste sample – The sample cannot be reused.

 

Zeroing and clean water verification

Ensure that it is not possible for any discharge to be possible throughout this entire process. The alarms will activate and deactivate throughout, including during the 10ppm and 20ppm verifications.

  1. Ensure that a good clean water supply is connected to the measuring cell between 0.5 and 6 Bar / 0.5 to 2 Litres per minute.
  2. Ensure power is supplied to the SmartPFM107 and the display is on.
  3. Ensure that the sample supply and air to the system are isolated.
  4. Remove the autoclean assembly by disconnecting the 4mm air hose and unscrewing the knurled autoclean nut.

  5. Using the bottle brush supplied, clean the inside of the measuring cell via the autoclean orifice thoroughly before refitting the autoclean assembly.
  6. Enter the menu and go to the “VERIFICATION” tab. Press the “Clean Water Feed” button followed by the “Back” button to flush the measuring cell. Repeat this step until the display shows 0.0ppm. Record this ppm reading.
  7. Press the “Camera” button and visually check that the image appears bright and clear with no signs of staining or other contamination. If contamination is still present, the Rivertrace cleaning kit should be used before restarting this procedure.
  8. Disconnect the solenoid valve from the PCB by pulling plug CN18 located in the bottom right corner of the main PCB.
  9. Remove the autoclean assembly by disconnecting the 4mm air hose and unscrewing the knurled autoclean nut.
  10. Remove the 3/8” sample inlet pipe from the solenoid valve, drain the measuring cell and connect the Stainless-steel verification pipe supplied in the verification kit. This should be fitted vertically with the connector at the bottom and the open end of the pipe at the top. (Ensuring it is possible to flip the pipe down to drain fluid – Not too tight and no obstructionsPFM
  11. Shake the 20ppm solution for 3 minutes and then leave to stand for 1 minute to allow any air to separate from the solution.
  12. Fill the Smart PFM107 measuring cell with the 20ppm verification solution via the autoclean hole and then drain into a jug or bucket by flipping the Stainless-Steel verification pipe down. This will Flush any residual clean water from previous flushing.

  13. refill the measuring cell with the 20ppm verification solution.
  14. Wait for the PPM to settle at the Smart PFM107 display and check that it reads 20ppm +-3ppm. Due to the nature of this kit, it may take a few minutes for the PPM to stabilise. Record this ppm reading.
  15. Record the ppm value displayed.
  16. drain into a jug or bucket by flipping the Stainless-Steel verification pipe down.
  17. Shake the 10ppm solution for 3 minutes and then leave to stand for 1 minute to allow any air to separate from the solution.
  18. Remove the loose autoclean assembly.
  19. Fill the Smart PFM107 measuring cell with the 10ppm verification solution via the autoclean hole and then drain into a jug or bucket by flipping the Stainless-Steel verification pipe down. This will Flush any residual 20ppm verification fluid from previous test.
  20. refill the measuring cell with the 10ppm verification solution.
  21. Wait for the PPM to settle at the Smart PFM107 display and check that it reads 10ppm +-3ppm. Due to the nature of this kit, it may take a few minutes for the PPM to stabilise. Record this ppm reading.
  22. Record the ppm value displayed.
  23. drain into a jug or bucket by flipping the Stainless-Steel verification pipe down.
  24. Refit the autoclean assembly and 4mm autoclean air pipe.
  25. Remove the Stainless-Steel verification pipe.
  26. Refit the sample supply, and remove all isolations.
  27. Check for any leaks and resolve.
  28. Wipe down area with paper towel or clean rags.
  29. Verification complete.
