[Smart Bilge+ Plus](https://hub.rivertrace.com/knowledge/smart-bilge-plus) # SMART BILGE + Autoclean installation guide ## Detailed guidance on installing an Auto-Clean system to your SMART BILGE + oil content meter. ### **Introduction** The autoclean option for the SMART BILGE+ is a pneumatic autoclean plunger with wiper blade, designed to ensure that the measuring cell glass tube is kept free from fouling. This option replaces the manual clean system on the monitor and its automated process removes the need for an operator to clean the cell. For this system to function the autoclean will require a constant 6 bar air supply. Remove the manual clean assembly from SMART BILGE+ from the cell by unscrewing it using the knurled section. This can be stored as a spare. #### **Installing the solenoid** To secure the solenoid to the SMART BILGE+, the two M4 screws and washers must be removed from the bracket above the PCB module. The two holes on the solenoid bracket can then be lined up with the now empty holes and the fasteners reattached.   ![Installing the solenoid](https://hub.rivertrace.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Aug-05-2024-10-41-08-7873-AM.png?width=514&height=409&name=image-png-Aug-05-2024-10-41-08-7873-AM.png)   Remove front cover from microcontroller module using a small Philips screwdriver then remove the clear protective cover within the enclosure using a small flat bladed screwdriver. Continue to screw the actuator into the cell until tight ad the pneumatic fitting is pointing towards the solenoid. Use the supplied pneumatic hosing to attach the two assemblies together, this may have to be cut down. Attach the 4 bar air supply to the solenoid valve via the spare elbowed pneumatic fitting.     ![Actuator installation](https://hub.rivertrace.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Aug-05-2024-12-14-06-5422-PM.png?width=510&height=289&name=image-png-Aug-05-2024-12-14-06-5422-PM.png)   **Enabling the Autoclean** After installation of the auto clean the power needs to be restored to the monitor. The autoclean will now need to be enabled using your unique SMART BILGE + activation PIN. Please contact sales@rivertrace.com to obtain the PIN. This will be specific to your PCB serial number so please ensure that this is included with your enquiry.  **Setting up the Autoclean** With the autoclean enabled select "AUTOCLEAN"  from the SMART BILGE+ main menu.
